When you’re first starting out as a Domme, it can be difficult to know what exactly you need to buy and what can wait. There are a few things to consider when you start such as whether you plan on being in it for the long run, or just for the short term...
Sometimes, it is impossible to know which direction our lives will go, therefore, I think it is always best to stick to the minimal until you find out what kind of a Domme you are and if you end up enjoying it or not.
For me, basic kit is equipment such as the following:
Pinwheel. I personally like the 3 wheel one, but there are one wheel ones which are good to start with. You can buy these from any site, Ebay, Amazon etc. They are not specifically for BDSM use, therefore they can be easily found on those main sites as well as others.
Leather/faux cuffs for hands and feet: https://www.bondara.co.uk/bondara-matte-pu-black-detachable-ankle-cuffs I find the style of these a lot better quality and more malleable than the thicker padded cuffs that you can get.
Light flogger https://www.uberkinky.co.uk/uberkinky-slim-handled-nubuck-leather-flogger-92815.html These types of floggers are quite nice to the touch. A good weighted handle and an end that isn’t too sharp for those on the receiving end- though it does depend upon how hard you go on them!
Leather/faux paddle: https://www.honour.co.uk/faux-leather-black-paddle.php
Light nipple clamps: https://www.bondara.co.uk/silver-nipple-clamps
Rope to attach people to beds, bondage benches etc with.

Bits of equipment you have lurking around your house:
Wooden spoon
Blindfold (eg. Scarf)
I do not get paid for advertising, so the links I have on my site are solely for the items that I would buy myself if I were starting out (again!). But this also depends upon the type of Dominant you wish to become. I don’t think any Domme necessarily knows when they first start out what kind of a Dominant they will be several years down the line, therefore, starting off with something basic then expanding is always the best way to go. Also don't spend too much at first. As you get to know what kind of equipment you like, you can diversify and change your BDSM kit. This equipment also depends upon where you are looking to session from. If you plan on sessioning from your house (which I personally wouldn’t advise for privacy purposes, but that's personal preference), you will need the above equipment and then some other bits and bobs as you expand. However, if you find a nearby dungeon that is fully equipped such as that of the House du Croix, then you will need fewer pieces of equipment. Different dungeons can accommodate different purposes, for instance Ashton Studios is more domestic and has fewer pieces of equipment in it, and therefore you will need to bring some of your own kit. I will not discuss health and safety in this post, as it is such a huge topic, however, it is important to note that even though you have these pieces of equipment, you need to know how to use it! When first starting out, it can be a bit daunting, not knowing the lingo, how to use equipment, what equipment you need etc. This website is here to guide you. I know that I would have appreciated something like this when I first started, so I hope this can help others that are now in that same situation. But the most important thing is, have fun 😘 ~ Empress Akari
